Support Education for Palestinian Refugee Children at Aida Youth Center
Aida Youth Center is a community-based organisation in Aida camp, a Palestinian refugee camp in the West Bank. At the Center, young refugees can access education, mental health support, and extracurricular activities. These services are much-needed, since the schools the children attend are overcrowded and don’t have the resources to support their well-being. In addition, in the refugee camp the children face violence by the military on a daily basis, and experience hardship due to the high poverty levels in the camp. As a result of the underfunded schools and harsh environment they live in, many children fall behind in school and even drop out.
Aida Youth Center’s Education Programme currently supports 110 children from the camp. They come to the Center five days a week for classes in Arabic, English and Mathematics in small groups. They also participate in therapy sessions and activities that help them process their trauma and cope with stress. However, many more parents are asking to enrol their children in the Education Programme, as the need for this kind of support is great. We are fundraising to expand and improve the Education Programme, so more Palestinian children can access high-quality education and support.
This Ramadan, help Palestinian refugee children in Aida Camp access the education and psychosocial support they need.
